Burnout

I have 8 children (ages 1-13) and have been homeschooling all along. I have really enjoyed homeschooling through the good and bad, but I am now struggling with terrible burnout! I just don’t feel like getting re-organized, preparing meaningful lessons, and supervising. We recently moved, and I don’t have the energy to make all new homeschooling friend contacts and activities. I have valiantly involved my children in the planning, work, and cleanup and so on, so my problem is not an imbalanced workload. I am tired! Any ideas? [Read more…]

Worn Out from Teaching

I have been homeschooling for four years, most of which have been enjoyable. I have four children, 14 months to 11 years old. This year the children complained of mother’s “grumpies” and not having the one-on-one time they were used to before the baby. Lately, rather than being a joy, the day seems more of a struggle to get everything done (school work, practice, etc) around the baby’s schedule.

Too Tired!

Homeschooling takes a lot of time and energy output. Is child-raising supposed to take this much effort? I am too tired!

Answer:

I so understand! Tiredness seems to be every mother’s companion. I think it is very natural to feel exhausted and want to rest.
